Please be advised that all applicants must be Canadian citizens with Canadian passport numbers only.

Application to the Education Office of Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Canada:
Deadline for completion of online application: March 1, 2019.
Deadline for submitting the application documents to the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Canada (one copy for each applicant): March 15, 2019.
The Award Letter to those preselected candidates: March 28, 2019. With this letter, the candidate shall continue contacting the 3 targeted Chinese universities in his/her application file to request a letter of pre-admission.
Deadline for submitting the letter of pre-admission to the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Canada by email or fax: April 12, 2019.
Deadline for submitting the Physical Examination Form: April 12, 2019. Only preselected candidates that have applied for a more-than-6-months scholarship will be required to complete a physical examination and blood test, and the original copies should be kept by the candidate. It should be done no earlier than mid-March.
Final selection of scholarship recipients made by the China Scholarship Council and communicated to successful candidates: late July or early August 2019. A successful candidate will receive an admission notice from the Chinese university along with other materials on visa and travel to China at the same time.

II. Coverage of the Chinese Government Scholarship
1. Tuition waiver. Tuition funds will be comprehensively used by the host university. It may cover scholarship students’ education, administration costs and expenditures to support student activities.

2. Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy. If it requires students to live on campus, the university will accommodate the scholarship students in a university dormitory (usually a twin room); if it permits students to live off campus, the university will provide monthly/quarterly accommodation subsidy: undergraduate students (preppies), master’s students(general scholars): CNY 700 per month; doctoral students (senior scholars): CNY 1000 per month.

3. Stipend: Undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month; Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month; Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.

4. Comprehensive medical insurance. Please visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org and refer to Comprehensive Insurance & Protection Scheme for Foreigners Staying in China for insurance policy.

III. Application Procedures

STEP ONE: Online Application
Complete the online application form at www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org according to the attached “Instructions of the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System”. Applicants should start to contact the 3 targeted Chinese universities in the application file for pre-admission.

STEP TWO: Application Form and SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Applicants are required to submit paper-based application package that includes one copy of each of the following documents:
①downloaded and printed online application form (Stick your recent photo to your application form.) ②Two letters of recommendation for graduate programs or senior scholar programs. ③ Notarized photo copy of transcripts of the most advanced studies. ④ Photo copy of the diploma (notarized by Notary Public) for the highest diploma obtained. ⑤A detailed study/research plan. ⑥ If applicable: proof of language proficiency (HSK results). ⑦ If applicable: samples of artwork for applicants in Fine Arts and Music. This applies to those who apply for arts and music only. ⑧Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The physical examination and blood test should be done no earlier than mid-March and submitted on-line by April 12, 2019).

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure the package is submitted by the Deadline. Incomplete files will not be accepted or processed.

STEP THREE:
To enhance the opportunity to be admitted to the targeted universities, once the application package is received, examined and approved primarily, an Award Letter for Chinese Government Scholarship provided by the Embassy of the P. R. China in Canada will be sent to the applicant no later than March 28, 2019. And with the Award Letter, the applicant shall continue contacting the three targeted Chinese universities filled in the online application form for pre-admission. Once the applicant gets the pre-admission(s), choose one from the most favorite universities and send it to us through email (PDF form) or fax in saving time.

Attachment I

Instructions of the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System
-Chinese Embassy in Canada
Step 1: Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org and click “Scholarship Application Online for International Students”.

Step 2: Read “Tips for online application” carefully before clicking “NEXT” to the registration page.

Step 3: Log in with your user name and password. For new user, please click “Create an account” for registration.

Step 4: Fill in the correct Program Category and Agency Number. An Agency Number represents a specific application receiving agency and a correct choose of Program Category is necessary before filling in the Agency Number. Please make sure you fill it in correctly, otherwise you will not be able to continue your online application or your application will not be accepted.
Your ‘Program Category’ is: Type A and ‘Agency Number’ is: 1241. Once the correct ‘Agency Number’ is entered, the name of the agency - “the Chinese Embassy in Canada” will automatically emerge.

Step 5: Fill in the Online Application Form and Upload Supporting Documents truly, correctly and completely following the steps listed on the left of the page.
Applicants are required to select a discipline before choosing their majors. Please refer to the Disciplines Index, which could be downloaded from Help, if you have any doubt about the disciplines and majors.

Step 6: Check each part of your Application carefully before submitting it. Click Submit to submit your Application. The submitted documents will be the only reference for the applied universities to confirm the admission.

Step 7: You can make changes to your application by clicking Withdraw and Edit the Application on the top of the page. But make sure to submit it again by clicking Submit after finishing all the changes. Otherwise, the retrieved application will become invalid and your new application will not be received either.

Step 8: You can download and print the completed Application Form by clicking Print the Application Form.

Step 9: Send the paper application form and other supporting documents to the dispatching authorities – “the Chinese Embassy in Canada” if you are required to do so.

Only Chinese and English are accepted for the online application.

Attachment II

2019-2020 Chinese Government Scholarship Application
(the Chinese Embassy in Canada)

The 2019-2020 Chinese Government Scholarship is now open for application. Online application and the corresponding application documents should be submitted to the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy if you live in the Canadian capital area, the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan no later than March 15, 2019. Eligibility: To be eligible, the applicants must be
- a Canadian citizen (with Canadian passport number only) in good health;
- a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs;
- a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs;
- a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;
- under the age of 45 and have completed at least two years of undergraduate study when applying for general scholar programs;
- a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior scholar programs.

Application Documents (one copy)

a) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship(in Chinese or English)

b) Notarized highest diploma: Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

c) Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

d) A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English. (A minimum of 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for postgraduates)

e) Recommendation letters: Applicants for graduate programs or senior scholar programs must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.

f) Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of their own works. Applicants for fine arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which include two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.

g) Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.

h) Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (The original copy should be kept by the applicant.). The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

Please submit the following documents if applicable:

i) Pre-admission Letter from Chinese Government Scholarship universities;

j) Language qualification certificate, e.g., HSK certificates, IELTS or TOEFL report.

NOTE: The above documents should be bound on top left corner. No application documents will be returned.
